EPOCA Luxury furniture Spain. Care and maintenance

WOOD

Quality wood furniture is a significant investment expected to last for generations.
During our manufacturing process our wood products are carefully finished with two to three coats of the finest lacquer for extra depth and long-lasting durability. However, wood is a living material and reacts to daily use. No finish is totally indestructible but with regular care, the finish will last much longer maintaining first day’s lustre and providing years of enjoyment to you.

To protect and care for your furniture, we suggest the following:

  • For normal cleaning, dust furniture weekly with a slightly damp, soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe dry in the direction of the wood grain.
  • Do not use aerosol-powered cleaners, polishes, waxes, abrasive cleaners, or oily polishes
  • Use common sense and don’t place wet or hot objects on your wooden furniture.
  • Use trivets and coasters to prevent damage and wipe up spills promptly.
  • Prolonged exposure to sunlight can fade the colour of your furniture and dry the wood. Avoid daily direct exposure to the sun.
  • If you leave objects such as candleholders or vases on an uncovered wood surface, rotate them regularly to prevent dark or light spots.
  • Periodically rotate accessories on furniture so they do not sit in the same spot all the time and cause your wood product to age unevenly.
  • Use pads, cloth or felt to protect the furniture surface from plastic, rubber, hot dishes, beverages, bookends, flowerpots and vases.
  • Alcohol, perfume and medications can cause severe finish damage.
  • Use a protective pad (glass, leather, plastic, acrylic) when writing with a ballpoint pen on the furniture surface.
  • Lift and place objects rather than dragging them across the furniture surface.

Remember that as part of natural aging, your wood furniture will typically develop a beautiful patina and undergo colour changes, depending on the wood. Some woods tend to lighten with time, while others tend to turn a golden colour as they age.

EPOCA Marble maintenance

MARBLE

We recommend you to follow these simple instructions to ensure your marble furniture remains always clean and beautiful:

  • Immediately remove and clean any spills. Marble it is a porous material. Spills will penetrate into the stone and cause stains or etching.
  • The application of sealers does not stop staining but may reduce the chance of staining by delaying liquid penetration into the stone
  • Detergents, acids, juices, wine, liquors, dressings, perfume, wrong cleaning products and so on, will severely damage polished marble.
  • Marble can withstand hot objects for short periods of time, but we recommend that you never place hot objects directly on the surface.
  • Clean the stone thoroughly using fresh warm wáter (always do a small sample area as a test).
  • Once the stone has dried, you may wipe it with a clean cloth to remove any streaks

LEATHER

To always keep leather soft, supple, durable, and resistant, it’s important to care for your leather properly: clean dust frequently with a clean, dry cloth. If leather is soiled, it can be wiped with a soft, damp cloth using a lather of any mild soap with lukewarm water. Do not spot clean leather; clean the entire surface. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a clean, soft cloth. Let the leather air dry; never use a hair dryer or other heat source to dry leather.

EPOCA Upholstered furniture

FABRIC

Stains in fabrics can often be removed with a damp cloth. If the stain has dried in, any surplus substances must first be removed by hand or with a soft brush. The stain should then be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Never use undiluted cleaning agents, bleach, ammonia or soap that is intended for hard surfaces. Having the fabrics dry cleaned is also a solution; however this cleaning method is at your own risk. Discuss what the risks are with the cleaning company before you go ahead, these are for your own risk.

GLASS

All glass used in our furniture is tempered to ensure greater durability. Glass is a useful material that can withstand virtually all of the chemicals, acids and liquids used in the household, however it is not scratch-resistant, so avoid dragging objects across the surface. Glass is very heat-resistant, but we recommend that you never place tea lights, pots or other hot objects directly on the surface.
